"Cozy sandwich shop that offers breakfast and lunch sandwiches. I only like doing a Google review if the spot hits. My friends and I got the western breakfast sandwich, a hash brown and egg on a hard roll, and a tuna salad sandwich. We also got a raspberry chocolate and Vermont maple iced coffees that tasted exactly like their names! The sandwiches were so fresh and the tuna salad slapped it was so good!!!! The lady running the shop was very nice and was fast in making the food. We could see her making it and everything looked fresh and the kitchen was very clean. Highly recommend this little gem as we stopped in on the way down to Clinton outlets."

"Really liked the name of this place, decided to check it out. Small little breakfast/lunch place. A lot of selections. Price is fair. Cash only. There is seating outside and on table with 2 chairs inside. This is more of a grab and go type of place for sandwiches. I had the ice coffee and was decent."

"This place is excellent. You can sit outside with the guys who are there every day and everyone who passes by knows each other. It’s like the television show “cheers”. The outside patio is the perfect place to dine when the weather is beautiful. The coffee and iced coffee is great and the food is delicious. They also have bottled drinks and orange juice, stuff like that. I recommend the sausage, egg and cheese sandwich and you can add an extra egg if you like. They have breakfast and lunch, quesadillas, hot dogs, chili dogs and more. I plan to try more of their menu. I’ve only tried breakfast so far but I bet the lunch menu is just as good. I was always going to Dunkin Donuts but their sandwiches are horrible. This is my new spot. Brewed Awakening is definitely doing something right!"

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the breakfast sandwiches really made to order?

What does the iced coffee taste like?

The iced coffee is often described as bold and true to flavor. Some iced options are flavored — reviewers mentioned raspberry chocolate and Vermont maple — and said they tasted like their names, so you get clear, sweet flavors when you pick those.

Is there a good bagel for egg sandwiches?

Yes. Several reviewers loved the bagels and said a good bagel can make an egg sandwich. Expect a chewy, toasty base that holds the egg and fillings without getting soggy quickly.

Do they have muffin or pastry choices?

Yes. Reviewers frequently mention muffins and pastries as fresh and tasty, making them a good choice if you want a sweeter or smaller bite with your coffee.

Can I get pastrami and Swiss on rye like the reviewers did?

Are there any popular savory specials like a steak bomb?

Yes. Reviewers talked about a steak bomb and other lunch-style items like quesadillas and chili dogs, so savory, hearty sandwiches appear on the menu at times and get strong mentions.

Is tuna salad a good pick?

Definitely. One reviewer exclaimed that "the tuna salad slapped it was so good!!!!" which means it’s well seasoned, fresh and a popular choice for a lighter but flavorful sandwich.

Do they offer juices or lighter options?

Yes. Fresh vegetable and fruit juices were mentioned by customers, and menu previews list juice and a Brewster's Salad, which are good if you want something lighter than a sandwich.

Are there gluten-free or bread alternatives?

Some reviewers noted gluten-free bread availability, so if you need a different bread option you can ask for it to go with your egg or deli-style sandwich.

What's a Higganum local’s go-to order?

Locals often pick classic breakfast sandwiches like sausage, egg and cheese or specialty combos such as pastrami with Swiss on rye, paired with a simple iced coffee — these are mentioned again and again by regulars.
