Industrial Age Breakfast Trends
As the Industrial Revolution swept through the United States in the 19th century, breakfast habits began to reflect the demands of a rapidly changing society. Families in Connecticut, like those elsewhere, started opting for quicker meals that could be consumed before heading to work. This shift led to the rise of lighter fare, as health reformers advocated for fresher, simpler breakfasts, steering away from the heavier dishes that had previously dominated. Ultimately, this period marked the beginning of a more diverse breakfast table, paving the way for the many options we enjoy today.

"We went for my son’s 4th birthday breakfast and it was so good! The service and food were amazing and when the chef heard it was his birthday he made him a special dessert and everyone sang! He was so happy! Very “small town / home like” feeling when you go in. Definitely can’t wait to go back!"
"We live right down the street, and have been to Ani's a few times. This place is a hidden gem! Food is absolutely incredible, delicious, and always fresh! Staff is incredibly friendly, always kind and they provide the utmost quality service. The atmosphere is wonderful, and the owner Ani he is one of the best chefs around. Always friendly and kind when we go. We've been when it's been a line out the door, and on slower days, and the service and food is always the same, honestly to die for. The Pretty French Toast has to be my favorite, along with the gorgeous omelette and Philly cheese wrap. This place doesn't disappoint!"
"Came on a Saturday at 9am. Got packed quick since the place is smaller. Great for parties of 2. Very nice set up inside! Very homey like a small town spot ❤️ 2 waitresses on a busy Saturday extended the wait a little bit but they got through it well and were very nice. Wish they had some type of crayons and paper to keep the kiddos busy. They do have a breakfast and lunch menu in the morning. Everything is reasonably priced. It was actually really hard to choose what to have because everything sounds so good! I’ll post photos so hopefully it speaks for itself!! The taste I’ll let you decide ;)"

Breakfast Ingredients: A Local Touch
Connecticut's breakfast scene is deeply intertwined with its agricultural heritage. In past centuries, many families relied on local farms for their morning meals, incorporating fresh eggs, milk, and seasonal fruits. This commitment to local ingredients has only grown stronger, with modern breakfast dishes often highlighting Connecticut’s rich dairy and produce industries. For example, the use of locally sourced berries in pancakes or the incorporation of artisanal cheeses in omelets showcases how breakfast can celebrate the bounty of one's own backyard. Such practices not only elevate the meal but also foster a sense of community connection.
